Cebu Doctors’ College of Medicine Class of 1987 will celebrate their Silver Jubilee reunion on
July 20-21, 2012 with the theme “Are we Ready for 2012 ?” The year being 2012, an ominous one in
the Mayan calendar, the class has chosen to focus on Disaster Preparedness and Management for
their postgraduate course to be held at Cebu Doctors’University Hospital 4th floor conference room
starting at 8 AM on Friday, July 20, 2012. Topics and Speakers include: !) “Institution-based Disaster
Preparedness and Management” by Engr. Oscar Tuason, Administrator of Cebu Doctors’ University
Hospital; 2) “Community-based Disaster Preparedness and Management” by Vice Mayor Alfredo
Arquillano, Jr. of San Francisco, Camotes, Cebu, United Nations Campaign Champion for International
Strategy for Disaster Management; 3) “ First Response: mass Casualty Management” by Ret. US Air
Force Col. John T. Cinco, MD (CDCM class 1983); and 4) “After the Shock: Minding their Minds” by Dr.
Nancy T. Cinco, MD (CDCM Class 1987), Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist.

With the spate of natural and man-made disasters occurring almost regularly in recent years, this
forum is a timely and relevant topic particularly for physicians, who are usually among the first responders
in times of crisis. This forum is also open to the public, including stakeholders in disaster management
at the community, institution and national level as well as emergency rescue and relief groups and
government agencies. After the disaster management forum , there will be a lunch symposium on
“Nutritional Recommendations for Cachexia Management” by Omid U. Etemadi, MD, FAAIM supported
through an educational grant by Nestle, Philippines.

are invited to join this once-in-a-lifetime event. Alumni from Class of 1987 will be arriving from different
provinces as well as from the United States, United Kingdom and even as far as Norway for this event.
